7 Things to Do Every Morning to Think Faster and Get More Done
Thinking faster has plenty of benefits.
For a start, researchers have proven that it makes people happier, more creative and energetic. When reading faster, for example, you’re speeding up your thoughts and that also improves your mood and self-esteem.
Fast thinkers make better decisions as well, and take more action in life. In addition, increasing brain speed every day or so can slow down the aging process. After all, our brains slow down as the years go by and it’s our responsibility to keep them sharp and healthy.
Productivity is yet another advantage for those who accelerate their thinking. And whatever problem life throws at you, you’ll be able to handle it better thanks to thinking more effectively.
So the question is what can you do today and over the next days to begin that process and become a faster thinker? Here are some little things you can include in your mornings that will help you get there:
1. Do one activity that promotes fast thinking when you wake up
Fast thinking must be practiced at least once a day so you can teach your brain how to increase its processing speed.
It could be a simple exercise such as going through the whole alphabet and thinking of a name starting with each letter, for example.
You can also play challenging puzzle games. These train your ability to solve problems creatively.
2. List down your tasks
A great way to wake up your brain is to think of all the big and small things you need to get done today, tomorrow or during the whole week. You can then check your calendar and add new items there, organize the things you just wrote in order of importance, or schedule each so your whole day is planned.
3. Read
Reading daily has been proven to slow down cognitive decline (which usually happens later in life), improve memory retention, and even encourage a longer life.
Reading is a real workout for your brain. But to add the element of going out of your comfort zone, you should also choose books you wouldn’t usually read.
If you’re wondering what to read, here’s a list of 16 brain training books.
4. Listen to classical music
Did you know that classical music makes you more emotional but also lowers blood pressure, improves your sleep and eases pain? Not just that but it also boosts your brain power.
While it might not be something you’re used to doing, investing 10 minutes to listen to Mozart, Beethoven or other great composers can enhance your reasoning.
This concept has become so popular that it’s even known as the Mozart effect. Try it out for a few weeks to see how your brain feels.
5. Solve math problems
Do this without a calculator and in the morning to truly speed up your thinking.
6. Watch a TED Talk
TED talks are inspirational and a great morning activity that will motivate you to think faster and take action throughout the whole day. What’s more, watching one such video each day will make you more creative, open-minded and a faster thinker.
The innovative ideas shared in these talks by successful individuals are also educational and filled with great advice.
7. Visualize
How you spend your morning shapes your day. If you fill it with uplifting and productive activities, you’re sure to get closer to your goals by the evening. One more thing you can add to your morning routine that will also speed up your brain is visualization. That’s the process of spending some time alone, relaxing your mind and body, and imagining something positive such as your life a few years from now.
In your fantasy, anything’s possible. So include all the details and imagine you’ve achieved all your goals. You’ll feel motivated and empowered. The good news is that this picture gets to your subconscious mind. If visualization is done often enough, you will wake up every day ready to make this vision come true and won’t stop until you get there.
As you can see, training yourself to think faster and do more every day can be a fun journey. Just make sure you do a little something every day that helps you with this new goal.
