  • Don’t consume alcohol

The festive season is when you spend time with your friends and family. Naturally, if you are an adult above the legal drinking age, your social gatherings will involve alcohol. However, if you are struggling with anxiety issues, it is advised that you stay away from alcohol. Consumption of alcoholic beverages has shown signs of increased anxiety in individuals. This is because alcohol alters the rate of happy hormones in your body. When your hormone levels are thrown off balance, you are more prone to anxiety and panic attacks.

  • Don’t overdo caffeine

Caffeine is a friend to most people in the world. It is also a very popular foe to people who suffer from anxiety disorders. It wakes you up in the morning and gives your day a much-needed kickstart. However, the festive season is full of energy and excitement. You might wake up in the morning with adrenaline rushing through your body. In such cases, consumption of caffeine can throw you off balance. You might become jumpier leading to increased chances of suffering an anxiety attack.

  • Stay hydrated

Water is the answer to everything. You might think staying hydrated is in no way associated with decreased chances of an anxiety attack, but that’s not true. When you are dehydrated, your cardiovascular system is profoundly compromised. This can lead to an increase in blood pressure and irregular heart palpitations. These ailments can feed into your anxiety attacks and trigger a physical panic attack. So, find time to drink water in your busy holiday schedule to avoid such attacks.

  • Spend time with yourself

Holidays can get crowded, and you may not get enough time for yourself. However, if you are suffering from anxiety disorders, you must take time out of your day to spend with yourself. Collect your thoughts and rejuvenate your energy levels. You can wake up early in the morning and spend the first half-hour of your day alone. You do not need to take out significant chunks of your time for this activity. An hour or so should suffice. You should feel rejuvenated and more comfortable with your immediate surroundings; only then will this tactic help.

  • Talk to a friend or a professional

Talking to someone your trust is essential if you are suffering from any mental ailment. This is important because you need to get your thoughts out there. You must relieve yourself of the emotional burden you carry around by sharing it with people. If you do not want to talk to your family or friends, then you can seek help from a professional.

Staying healthy, both physically and mentally during the festive season is essential. Find something that works for you and stick to it to relieve you of your anxiety, especially during the festival season.
