After a recent presentation on memory skills, someone in the audience asked me a new question.
“Jim, what are some of your most memorable ‘memory related’ Hollywood films?”
Here was my answer (in no particular order), and the trailers if you’re interested. Which ones am I missing or you recommend?
1. 50 First Dates (2004) – This romantic comedy stars Adam Sandler as a man who finds the girl of his dreams (played by Drew Barrymore), only to discover she has short-term memory loss and forgets him every day for 50 dates. Funny Stuff
2. Memento (2000) – This is an intense film about a man, who suffers from short-term memory loss. He uses notes and tattoos to remember what he needs to track the person he thinks killed his wife.
3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) – A couple (Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet) undergo a procedure to erase each other from their memories when their relationship turns sour, but it is only through the process of loss that they discover what they had to begin with.
4. Total Recall (1990) – Old scifi film where a construction worker (Arnold Schwarzenegger) goes for a virtual vacation and turns out to be a freedom fighter from Mars who has been relocated to Earth. I hear they will remake it in 2012 with Colin Farrell.
“The Notebook” would be my favorite, and how about “Rainman”
Two more unforgettable classics, thanks Mary!
